Good night folks!!! after the magnificent dinner with the family to finish this important day in my life, it's not every day you turn half a century, we are going to enjoy a movie with the family, we haven't decided yet.

I had planned to release a pipe but it is still on the way, it has not arrived, so I will have to wait a little, but as it seems that there is no happy birthday without "breaking" a pipe, I did not know which one to choose for the occasion of a few that I have without "breaking", I decided to give the choice to my wife and daughter, curiously, both, separately, chose the same ... they are very "synchronized" ... that almost scares me a little ....

So, "breaking" this Le Nuvole Troncheto 6 Clouds with a freshly opened tin 2010 Marlin Flake

OMG, Virkia! What a find! This wonderful listing adds greatly to my collection of information on the A.D.P. pipe. Thanks.
Please contact me by email, dargy@sbcglobal.net as I would love to share the article I had published on the ADP pipe. I know you would enjoy it.

I would have bought a copy of the original 1893 book "Illustrated London" instead of taking the article from the online resource had it not been in The States and priced at almost £200 including over £40 P&P.

A better copy of the A.D.P article courtesy Google Books:-
MESSRS. ADOLPH POSENER & CO., WHOLESALE AND EXPORT PIPE MANUFACTURERS, AND PATENTEES AND IMPORTERS OF EVERY DESCRIPTION OF TOBACCONISTS’ FANCY GOODS,
61 AND 61 and-a-half, MANSELL STREET, MINORIES, E.C.

In its special line this house enjoys an unequalled reputation, which has been steadily growing to its present dimensions from the foundation of the business in 1859. An unbroken and progressive career of prosperity has characterised its thirty-three years of commercial activity, and in the extent of its transactions and the work of its connection it possesses very few successful rivals. The premises utilised are ample in size and conveniently located, being situate within one minute’s walk from Aldgate Metropolitan Railway Station. They consist of three spacious floors, the whole of which, with the exception of the counting-house portion, are occupied with an extensive and comprehensive stock. An extensive business is here controlled in the manufacture of the celebrated Posener’s patent clay pipes for colouring. These are made in nearly one hundred different shapes and of various qualities. They are known among smokers in all parts of the globe, and are deservedly ranked among the best of the kind that can be procured. The material employed in their composition is of a special nature, and is carefully selected and prepared before use. They are light, porous, sweet to smoke, and finished in a superior style, whilst the immense amount of business done in them, joined to the productive facilities the house possesses, places it in a position to quote prices lower even than what are asked for vastly inferior articles.

As far back as 1861 the firm carried off a prize medal for the excellence of their manufacture at the famous Hyde Park Exhibition. The stocks of this special class are exceedingly large and varied, including unprepared and prepared pipes, glazed gems, patent washed, goose bone, and silver and amber mounted. Another leading feature with this noted house is their London-made briar pipes, known everywhere in the trade as the A.D.P. brand, each pipe being guaranteed against burning or cracking. They are kept in stock in upwards of three hundred shapes, many of which are very novel and attractive. They are made with amber, ambroide, vulcanite, or horn mouthpieces, and are also tastefully mounted in silver and put in neat cases. Great care is exercised in the selection of the wood and other materials, and the workmanship throughout is of a superior and high-class kind, only skilled and experienced workmen being employed. This house is well known as carrying the largest and most complete stock of pipes of all descriptions and tobacconists’ fancy goods, all of which have been selected from the best makers with much judgment and knowledge of the requirements of the trade. They comprise, among numerous other things, meerschaums, wood pipes, real, Baden, and common cherry, rustics, long cherry and Myall pipes, briar, cherry, meerschaum, and amber cigar and cigarette tubes, French, billiard, Albert, and other meerschaum pipes, including the firm’s special “A.D.P.” meerschaums, ambers and amber mounts of all kinds, plated, German silver, and real silver pipe mounts and bands, English and foreign cigar and cigarette cases, cigarette books of various makes, pouches, cachous, cabinets, hookahs, cigarette machines, &c. Their latest great novelty is the “N’Oil Pipe,” a pipe with a well. This well receives the nicotine and saliva, and is therefore the most perfect briar pipe in existence.

Messrs. Posener have always many desirable job lots of meerschaum and other pipes on hand, which are offered at wonderfully cheap prices to the trade. Every species of repairing, mounting, and cleaning is done on the premises by competent workpeople. As a consequence of the uniform superiority of the goods manufactured or imported, the house has developed a widespread and influential connection, extending to every part of the United Kingdom, travellers being kept constantly on the road, and a large shipping trade is controlled with Canada, the Cape, Australia, India, and other English possessions, as well as other parts of the globe. Messrs. Posener & Co. are recognised representatives, of this valuable branch of commercial activity, and are energetic and able business men. In all their dealings they are strictly fair and honourable, and are well known and respected in trade and commercial circles

Thanks, again, Virkia. I found that article after you first posted it. The business listings in that "Illustrated London" are absolutely fascinating!
Those of you who would find interesting the major commercial entities of London in 1893, will love reading the introduction and perusing the listings, that include short company profiles of the shops in London town.
