Got my last delivery of tobacco until the summer. Lord knows I've got enough now to keep me going for years! Time to settle down and get to the next step in learning to smoke a pipe. Actually reminds me of the old music days in senior high and the first year of university - I'd go out and buy all the music I could, most of it a bit of a stretch, and spent years afterwards learning it when I knew what I was doing!
This morning's smoke was part of this learning procedure, but in smokin' pipe mode. I loaded my latest pipe, the now broken in and marvellous little
Peterson Dublin, and the tobacco was the long awaited
H&H Magnum Opus. I wish I could tell you more about the model number of the Pete, but it's not readable (even reversing an slr lens and using it as a magnifying glass - try it! Works great!. The stamped writing is simply too faint and blurred.
Absolutely terrific tobacco and perfect combination with the pipe. I've observed that I very much favour tobaccos with a strong Virginia and Oriental component, the so called "Balkans." With or without Lat. I'll do the lat thing in this pipe, and the without in another pipe which I'll try out soon. Update when it all happens.
Also I'll keep on photographing the pipes and accoutrements over the drying out tobacco leaves from my thriving Oriental plants, so you can keep track of their progress.
