Just finished a bowl of Palmetto Balkan with a little C&D Super Balkan on the bottom while leisurely walking in the lovely spring twilight. In my big Radice Rind G 31.

Curious about Super Balkan, I read some reviews. The following description was really captivating:

"Super Balkan puts Burley in the driver seat with Perique navigating, while Virginia, Latakia, and Orientals act as mere passengers along for the ride. Consequently, it strikes me as more of an Americanized English blend than a true Balkan. It's very strong, loud, boisterous, rough around the edges, and uncouth — the stereotypical "Ugly American" on a trip across the pond as a tourist. It's good, and there's a role for it in any cellar, it's just not archetypal. It reminds me of something you might bring back from a visit with your estranged Appalachian uncle: a Backwoods Balkan. Homemade corn cob pipes, a mason jar of genuine moonshine, and a leather rollup pouch stuffed full of hand blended Backwoods Balkan, sure to knock you for a loop."

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, chicken legs and green beans dinner with strawberries for dessert. I've passed the half way mark of this bowl of year 2010 Penzance in a 1990s smooth dark brown medium bend Peterson Captain Pete XL80 bulldog with a metal accent and a black vulcanite p-lip stem. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Fed the ferals earlier, and when I checked on them a few minutes ago, the possum was at their food dish. It wasn't afraid of me, and didn't move until I asked it to go. It moved three feet away under a table, and just stared at me when I talked to it. Daisy the Feral Princess came over to see the possum and then wanted inside. Tomato the Brave lived up to his name, and quickly scooted off the deck. I took the food dish inside, which did not make the possum happy as you can see in the photo.

And today ... (Tue,4/22) ... I wanted to partake in Cob Tue.
I'm also strongly considering picking up another Cob. Won't say how many I'll then have.
But to give a warning ahead of time about not wanting to be rude, I have to say I won't entertain any questions along the line of "Do you REALLY need another Cob?" or "Aren't you STRONG enough to fight off some PAD?"

Cherokee Black (Turkish). This is a very tasty tobacco, if you enjoy Turkish. Good by itself, or a great base for a blend. I’m going to try it with some bright Virginia, then with some Latakia. I’m thinking just a bit of Perique would be good, too.
Great ideas. Might also be good mixed with some Red Virginia ... plus some variations dribbling in some Perique or some Latakia or both. Lots of fun potential (!!!).

So says the "Inveterate Tinkerer".

Well, I'm now officially the 3rd longest living male on either side of the family, and I'll tie my cousin Wally next year on this same date as tied for 2nd. Yup, made it to 74 today. Celebrated my wakeup with my favourite small cigar, a Colt Whiskey, and after a few chores, I'll be gone most of the day - unwanted festivities and extravaganzas, as you'd expect :poop: )

Lot's to talk about in the following picture, my upcoming late morning or early evening puff, and I'll explain all of it in an upcoming late night post about my evening smoke in the eminently verbose and unnecessary "Skippable Drivel."

Happy birthday @gord! May the Lord bless you and keep you.

Enjoyed a tasty golden delicious apple, and am smoking Jim's Va/Bur #2 in a smooth brown 1980 Peterson Deluxe 20S medium bend billiard with a silver cap military mount black vulcanite fish tail saddle stem. Haven't smoked this pipe in a while. I have another with a p-lip that is next on the list. Sleepy Suzy is by my side. Molly Danger is with m'lady.

Passing the quarter mark of this bowl of KBV Verge Engine Santa Drive 2023 in a 1978 Peterson Deluxe 20S medium bend smooth dark brown billiard with a silver cap military mount black vulcanite saddle p-lip stem. I also have a sandblast version, but haven't decided what to smoke in it. Ice water and bergs is my drink.
