DAAAMN that's a crazy burnout! Kinda cool to see

Yeah, i just finished the third bowl, and thought i tasted briar. Noticed the discoloration as i was swabbing out the stem and decided to go exploring inside the bowl with the edge of my tamper. When i did, it just kept digging char until it revealed the pit that was starting. It was returned for a refund, but since i could no longer get the sale price, i figured i'd check out the Deluxe line in stead. Bought the PSB from @Jon C.P.G. , which he listed here. Thankfully, this one smokes like a champ and has just as nice of grain as the Newgrange. 👍

Currently firing up a bowl of Ryback with Granulated Perique in an IMP and then off to grab some lemons for the Gulf Coast Marlin that will soon be dinner.

Pipe Dreamer and Star Gazer
Photo on 4-17-25 at 5.47 PM.jpg1984 Dunhill with a Cumberland stem won in a pipe smoking contest decades ago in Saint Charles, MO at the pipe shop of John Dengler. Currently smoking a blend called Telescopes that he developed for me before that contest. I rarely smoke this pipe, but it does smoke well. When I first got it, I was surprised that the smoking enjoyment was not any better than my much much cheaper pipes, both in terms of quality and reputation. I simply couldn't imagine that for all the money that was being asked for a Dunhill, in terms of pipe smoking quality, there wasn't a hair's bit of difference between what I already had and the Dunhill. Just looking at the pipe, other than the Cumberland stem and perhaps the bit, nothing really stood out as being superior. Oh well. Now I have 7 Dunhills. I've learned to appreciate them for what they are and not for what they aren't.

Relaxing after a wonderful salad, chicken legs and snow peas dinner with a nice slice of chocolate cake for dessert. I've about a quarter of a bowl left of year 2012 St. James Flake in a straight smooth brown Algerian briar post-WW2-early 50s family era Barling’s Make Ye Olde Wood T.V.F. Made in England EL billiard with a tapered black ebonite stem. This pipe is from the estate of David Cuneo. Community Coffee, neat, is my drink. Did traffic copped feral feeding although we haven't seen Abner the Eager for the third day in a row. Tomato the Brave hadn't eaten since noon as he's been happy laying on the deck lounge all day. A litle coaxing from me got him to come in, and he ate quite a bit of food, and then wanted outside. He's back in the same spot where he's been snoozin'.
