Good morning all! I am smoking the last of my sample of The Beast in a Ron Smith handmade pipe.

Happy Easter everyone.

At the suggestion of @halfdan I'm having a bowl of Sam Gawith's Black Forest

I have only had 3-4 smokes in this and the chamber is not yet fully carbonised.
Compared to the bowl I had last week in a well-seasoned briar, there is a district earthy, clayey taste to this smoke.
@OzPiper A good tobacco choice for a clay pipe! I think the bowl looks like a Pollock pipe; I've got more than one of the Irish harp clays.

I see. This is one of the things keeping me from making a video tutorial on how to use a rope lighter with pipe.

I’ve told my folks that I smoke a pipe, but it feels disrespectful to let them see it, or any evidence of it. Strange? :)

Rope lighter!
@aspiring_sage Yes a rope lighter would be perfect for the English Civil War period as they used match cord for lighting the muskets - and their clays!
Video of the Sealed Knot Parade at the Battle of Nantwich:
One of the re-enactors can be seen lighting his pipe with a length of match cord at about 5:30.
