Wanted to try a tin of Charatan Rolls, not bad, very much like Escudo or DNR, I’d buy it again if the other two weren’t available (in a Comoy Blue Riband)

Edit, the more I smoke this bowl, the more I really like it, it stands on its own, I’ll buy more for the cellar, wish it wasn’t 20$ for 50g though 😂

Almost half way through this bowl of year 2022 unreleased Sutliff Brown Virginia Flake in a straight smooth brown post-WWII Comoy’s Grand Slam billiard 27 Canadian patent 341422 with a black vulcanite saddle stem. Ice water and bergs is my drink.

What’s the story with this blend? Is this in development, or something they’ve decided won’t be released?

The Roux in Dunhill bulldog. Great taste, but I feel like I need to be prudent to not pack with the whole leafs. I placed a large leaf on top for giggles, but whatever I had on top was incredibly tangy. Not sure what the component was. When I got through that, I noticed a more complex Sutliff Victorian vibe going on. Definitely a good one.

Did a second set of walking reps on this very humid day, and smoked a bowl of year 2015 D&R A.B. Rimboche in an undated slight bend, smooth flame grain Wessex Standard egg with a brown accent on the black vulcanite saddle stem.

They decided it won't be released. The same goes for the black Virginia they gave me. Why, I don't know. All I know is that they had bags in the throw away bin, and decided to give them to me instead of trashing them. The only thing that makes sense to me is that they didn't quite meet whatever it was that they were going for. I feel extremely fortunate to have them because they are quite enjoyable.

That’s too bad. A simple brown flake from a manufacturer more likely than some others to avoid irritating shortages would be very welcome.

GLP Barbary Coast, cubed burley, red Virginia, Perique, and touch of brandy, in a pipe by the late great North Carolina carver Bob Hayes, a rusticated straight Dublin with a smooth finished rim and a bamboo stem.

I bought this pipe at the end of the TAPS pipe show at the N.C. fairground on my second loop past the tables. Several shows in a row I'd admired Bob's pipes, but wasn't quite in his price category. Perhaps for that reason, he made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I thought I hadn't heard him correctly, and bought the pipe in a sort of daze. Within a year or so, he was gone, so it is a particular legacy and treasure.

It’s good that they found a good home for it at least! If they were a craft beer company, they’d just come up with a cutesy name like “Error 404 Ale” for the batch and ship it.
