Between the Heart of Alabama and Hot Springs NC
Read both this weekend. Very "meh"
New rule, if you're going to use someone else's imaginary world as a setting for your "new idea..." make your idea better than the books that inspired them. Otherwise, you're just suckering in readers that from someone else's fans. Kinda like putting a sub par tobacco in a a famous well know brand's tin.

Run Between the Raindrops, -Battle of Hue City by Dale Dye-Authors Preferred Edition. A most excellent read if you can find a copy of it.

SM Sterling’s “Marching Through Georgia,” a bizarre and wonderfully implausible alternate history where a South African dumping ground for rebels and dispossessed form a super nation and eventually take on the Germans in WWII. It’s quite rare at a decent price too, managed to get mine for $16 instead of $60.

I've always found it hard to understand Romans. I'm not skeptical of Christianity, I just have a hard time living up to it.
Dr. Andy Woods at Sugarland Bible Church has some great sermons on Romans where he breaks it down beautifully. You can check it out on slbc.com and just type Romans into the search bar. As far as living up to it, man we all struggle. God knows that though Just have faith in the blood of Christ, it's as easy as that.

Reading this one now. Interesting subject matter, but I'm not sure how I feel about the book itself. I swear I have to look up the definition of a word pretty much every paragraph, which is very frustrating. Seems like the authors were trying a little too hard to flaunt their knowledge/edcuation which comes across as pompous in my opinion.

Finally reading haunted bookshop... So far I'm finding the book started off with Nutty and earthy with a touch of spice, the sweetness breaks through here and there but only enough to let you know it's there. There are some rough edges here and there but for the most part it's dominated by those nutty earthy tones. The overall strength of the book is one step between medium to strong. Not and all day read, but repeatable.
