I just dug out my Eagles 4 disc compilation titled Selected Works 1972-1999.
The 4 discs are The Early Days, The Ballads, The Fast Lane and The Millennium Concert you get 53 songs from their huge repertoire.....great for lazing about on a Sunday afternoon doing nothing in particular.
Got this beauty out that I hadn't listened to is a few years. It's pretty beat up from being in the car for a number of years, but the cd is ok. The music is as crazy as the movie. Goes from Nine Inch Nails to Leonard Cohen to Patty Smith to Patsy Cline. Pretty great recording though, and is a fun listen. Was my late wife's and mine favorite movie we'd watch for Christmas every year.
How about a little Frankie Laine to make it smoke this evening. He was a tremendous singer who could really belt out a tune. Especially strong on numbers that had to be sung with strength like "Ghost Riders in the Sky".
4/5
"When all at once a mighty herd
Of red eyed cows he saw
Plowin' through the ragged skies
And up the cloudy draw
Their brands were still on fire
And their hooves were made of steel
Their horns were black and shiny
And their hot breath he could feel"
kcghost (Dan), Frankie Laine and I went to the same High School in Chicago, Lane Tech (though not at the same time).
Frankie LoVecchio changed his professional name to Laine, an homage to his high school.
Here's a favorite of mine among his many great hits:
