Russell’s Reserve 13 year Barrel Proof. I picked this up last weekend, had a couple pours, and wasn’t blown away. It has an amazing nose. I was hit with a waft Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit gum. It‘s sweet and creamy up front, but once it hits the back of the palate, it’s pepper and barrel straight through the (bitter) finish….. and nothing else ….. and it lingers.

I did have Covid a couple of weeks before, so that could have skewed my tastebuds. I’m giving it another try tonight. Being a Wild Turkey fan, I really want to love this. Still holding out hope. Cheers!

After seven plus hours on the road, we finally made it to Montreal. Going to have Ardbeg Wee Beastie that we picked up in Saratoga along the way. We also found Dickel Bourbon, which I haven't been able to find in New York or Pennsylvania.

Honestly, being a Turkey fan as well, Rare Breed has alway struck the right notes for me. The Russell releases not so much. Here’s hoping it was just the rona though ??

Johnnie Walker Red on the rocks, with my small bowl of Rouxgaroux. I like this one much better than the JW Black...I find the smoky note of the Black nice, but the Red is much better for mixed drinks like a Whiskey Sour.
