It really depends on your tastes. If you can get 1 oz samplers, I'd go that route.

Anyway, since you asked for suggestions: MacBaren Vanilla Cream, MacBaren Original Choice, and MacBaren 7 Seas (Royal, Black, and Regular).
@rushx9 hooked me up with a couple samples of the MacBaren Vanilla Cream and Original Choice. I'm drying the VC out right now to smoke a bowl before bed. They smell amazing!

May of the blends on my list are hard to find so if you see any grab one to see if you like it. It took a lot of trial and error for me to complete that list. I tested each blend very well before it was put in my cellar.

I smoked a number of dogs to get there.

Chihuahuas? Huskies? Do tell.

I deliberately did not list OOP blends, but if you have patience and ridiculously deep pockets, AND don't mind being bent over a connon and taken forcefully from behind:

Escudo - Cope's or Petersen, NOT the STG
McClelland - Christmas Cheer - pretty much all of them are good
McCranie's Red Ribbon
McCranie's Red Flake
McClelland Tudor Castle
McClelland 5100
McClelland 2015
McClelland Red & Black
McClelland 40th Anniversary
McClelland 35 Year Stave Aged
McClelland Grand Orientals
McClelland Virginia Woods
McClelland Blackwoods Flake
McClelland 2100
McClelland Deep Hollow
McClelland 22, 24, 25, 27
McClelland Dark Star
Motzek Strang
GL Pease Renaissance
GL Pease Raven's Wing
GL Pease Bohemian Scandal
Ardath London Mixture

You can narrow this down a little more yourself by smoking some single leaf burley, then Virginia, and condiments in various proportions. Then when you read the constituent tobaccos in particular blends, you'll know how likely you are to enjoy it. Buy in small quantities for a few years.

Jesse, most of the dogs were hell hounds made with red Virginia's. I was clueless as to why some blends smoked fine and baffled at blends that burned my tongue off.
It was a frustrating time. Luckily I found blends that didn't burn. This was back in 2000-2001. I found F&T Cut Virginia Plug,F&T Special Brown flake,F&T Vintage flake, Hamborger Veermaster, Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky. Astleys no 109 and a few more.

Back then I was also smoking some English blends that didn't burn.
