Anyone here use a hot towel prior to shaving? I do as an occasional luxurious treat.
First I wash my face with soap and water.
Next, I lather my face as though I am going to shave.
Taking a hand-towel that has been soaked in warm water, folded in half lengthwise, rolled, and heated in the microwave oven, I apply it over the bearded portions of my face. You'll find that you can get the towel surprisingly hot, but that the lather will insulate your face. I typically leave the towel in place for three-to-five minutes.
I wipe off the excess lather with the towel, re-lather my face, and then shave as normal.
The hot towel helps to soften the beard, and is surprisingly relaxing!
