So I am aware the easy answer will be pipes, but...what should I expect to find at a pipe show?
Are there notable deals to be had? I'm assuming tobacco will be everywhere, but what else? I can drive to Vegas, but I have no clue whether it would be worth the time it will take.
There will be a little of everything pipe related but the vast majority is pipes.
There are definitely notable deals to be had. I've gotten a few by dealing directly with the carver and a few that were the sellers personal pipes (as opposed to their retail selection).
Aside from deals and seeing some high end stuff what you can expect:
The entry fee is minimal ( I think it was $20 or less per person).
You can smoke the whole time while walking, talking, and meeting people.
There is a lounge/bar area where you can purchase beverages. I walked around the show last time with a pipe in one hand and a glass of red wine in the other.
Aside from meeting carvers there will likely be other forum members you will meet. They might even offer you some tobacco you've never had a chance to try.
I'll be there for sure. Hopefully I'll find a deal or two but more importantly I hope to get to talk with a lot of people both in the industry and from this forum. The comaraderie in the past years has been fantastic and what really made the show for me.
