Whoa! I love the old school, patient, simple approach here. No fancy magic potions, no “unobtanium” lotions.
Well done, and awesome knowledge! Thanks for the effort to post these vids, and passing along the techniques.
Further: I am always quite intrigued by the seeming conundrum and confluence of our current technologly (this forum, YouTube, the web, etc.), and our little world of “old world” pipe smoking, and all the nuances of the care, maintenance, and actual process of creating the perfect furnace in a little piece of special wood.?

How did you protect the logo on the stem? All "lighter&towel" manuals notice that this method removes all nomenclature as readily as the oxidation.

Though stem stamping means very little to me, I'm in the pipe is just a tool camp, you really have to be trying to wreck a stamp with heat. The way I do it is just to let the flame lick the surface and not heat more than just the outer most layer.
