Back when I taught high school, I shared a classroom with a female colleague who disapproved (in a friendly way) of my pipe smoking. I kept a pipe (a plugged/non-functional drugstore brand from an antique place that wasn't worth fixing) displayed decoratively on my desk.

One Christmas she gave me a pipe smoke man-candle thing. Very kind of her. I kept it next to the display pipe and sometimes lit it. It didn't smell anything like pipe smoke. I don't quite know what it smelled like. It was nebulously pleasant.

Side Story:
One time I had to leave the classroom for a few minutes, and the kids were left alone. When I got back to the classroom, one goofball's face was beet red, with tears streaming down his face, and the rest of the kids were dying laughing. For a minute I couldn't get a straight answer out of them as to what had happened. Finally one kid reluctantly pulled out his phone to show me the video of what had taken place in my absence: The goofball had reamed some decades old cake out of that pipe onto my desk (using I know not what... probably a pen cap or something), then used a credit card to line it up like coke, and snorted it. He fell to the ground and turned red.
I thought for sure that was the end of my job. I got every kid (as far as I know) to delete their videos of it ... and I never heard boo about it again. Phew.

I have to admit I love candles. I suppose it's a relatively acceptable outlet for my pyromania.

Anyways, I do wonder from time to time if a tobacco-scented candle might go over in our household. Perhaps if a Virginia were rubbed out really well, and molded into an otherwise unscented candle, it would smell pretty good. Might be something to try if that tin one just opened isn't hitting the spot!

I've had a couple of pipe scented candles and neither one put out a pipe tobacco scent. Since I purchased a Lampe Berger a few weeks ago... I'll never buy another candle.
