I have had nothing but good experiences with Ernie and WCC. They sent me the wrong MM cob a couple of months ago. Ernie’s response: “keep it, we’ll send another”.

And you will probably find that like a Bob Ross painting, you will not regard this as a mistake, but a “happy little accident”. WCC slices is one of the best Burley blends out there imho. If you don’t like it, send it to me!

I recently placed an order with WCC for a few items. When I initially received the box, I opened it and looked through quickly to make sure everything was there. Fast Forward a couple of weeks and as I was taking stuff out of the box to repackage it for cellaring, I noticed the label read differently from what I had ordered.

I emailed them and let them know of the mix up. I also advised them that I would just keep what was sent, since for myself, it's kind of a hassle to have to spend the time to prepare, post, and send a small quantity of something back. Ernie replied back later in the day...

"Oh Hell no. We screwed up we’ll make it good. We would never make anyone return something they did not order on their own dime. Just cellar the WC Slice and enjoy it...we lose more than that in a day. I’ll ship out 8 ounces of OD tomorrow afternoon."

Ernie is dedicated to service. He is also perhaps the best small blender in the US. OD and Flake 558 are masterful.

Like I said - Ernie is a gentleman - there was a thread weeks ago knocking his operation - while I respected it, some of those were being too quick to judge an overworked small businessman

I was probably one of them. Once I got the other side of the story from Ernie, it changed my viewpoint dramatically.

I'd be happily surprised if any of his blends are, given that they're relatively small batch and the Deeming process is significantly expensive.

I think at least six of his blends have been grandfathered. There are more ways to skin this cat than were apparent in the early days, and I think Ernie is, and has been, exploring possible routes forward.

Watch City Slices is a really good burley. I am fond of Churchwarden as well.

There are a few recent threads on this if you do a search. Off the top of my head, all the flakes are usually recommended depending on what you like. I love 558 and Churchwarden. Watch City Slices is a great burley blend. Many people speak highly of Simply Red and Rhythm and Blues. Deluxe Crumble Cut is like an old school burley blend. And more....

Yeap, as I mentioned after looking of the list of grandfathered blends. Deluxe Crumb Cut isn't on that list, if anyone is interested.

Somehow I suspect that the Press will be focused on other things. That said, yeah, let's take up a fund to pay Ernie's fines so he's covered.

P&C is getting around some of that by selling blending kits.

Seem's a perfectly good workaround. The Deeming Rule applies to finished products, not components.
