I believe sparrowhawk did win the bid. It sounded like he was leading the auction all day yesterday. There was a flurry of activity at the end of the auction today but the same eBay ID that was leading yesterday won the auction today.
It looks like he picked it up for $237 which is a pretty good price for that pipe!

Yes, I just woke up from staying up all night: I WON THE VOLCANO! And for far less than I bid for it in my maximum bid. I wish I could have watched the last minutes of the auction. Thanks, guys, for all your good wishes! It must have helped!

Just a thought, but on your next auction, you might want to wait till its over to post the auction link. Most of those you will be bidding against are on here, or at least come here to look around. By posting it, you may be creating your own competition and inadvertently driving the price up on yourself. As we all click on the link to see what you are bidding on, it will drive the views of the auction up also. Besides, there are a few times that I just bought the pipe that someone had posted and was wavering on. They were iffy, and I was certain. They showed it to us, and I won it. Just my 0.02 ::

+1, totally agree with cosmic on that one. Congrats though, glad you won it. You are absolutely correct regarding Marco as he is top notch all the way around and i have no doubt whatsover that you will be happy with your purchase all the way around. Post pics and how it smokes when it arrives and you pop its proverbial cherry with the maiden smoke.

Congrats, sparrowhawk on getting the pipe you wanted. Please do post photos when it arrives. I do not think that the photos on the listing do the size of this pipe justice. 7 x 2.6 inches isn't the biggest pipe but this thing also weights 8.5oz! That's just over a half pound. Marco doesn't mess around when it comes to the term "Magnum" so the fact that this pipe is branded "Super Magnum" should be something special.

Just a note, fellows: the Moretti volcano is making its way here from Italy, and should be here anytime in the next 10 days. Will keep you appraised and try to get a photo of the first smoke. How about MacBaren's Gold Blend to start it off? Normally Red Cake would be the starter, but the little supply I have of that left needs to be hydrated.

You will likely kill a quarter tin or more filling that beauty. I would use the one I had the most of for the inaugural smoke.

@ sparrowhawk No kidding brother. My magnum has a 3 inch deep bowl. Takes a little over 2 hours to smoke that monster from rim to heel, and you have a super magnum! Coma with a big smile indeed. :D

I decided I'm going to use the Mac Baren's Gold Extra. Smooth flavor, a nice Virginia with broad leaf cut, almost like a flake. Should expand nicely in the pipe. Hope my camera has a timed shot option so I can present you with the inaugural smoke. The pipe is scheduled to arrive Monday: sadly, I have three appointments that day, so I won't be there the moment it arrivesl But it should be there in the evening, my best smoking time next to an early quiet morning.
