You are right Junkyarddawg as I have not seen St Bruno tins in years. I thought it was in pouches back in 1994 but maybe the old Duty Free stuff was still in tins!

These would have been from 2000...I dunno, they may not be any good any more. As I recall I thought I didn't like St Brunos because I thought it had a perfumey smell.
As I gentley shake the sleeve back and forth, it either sounds like the tobacco is all dried out, even though the tins are still sealed.
Or, it could be that the flake tobacco has ever so gingerly aged and shrunken ever so slightly and i am hearing the crisp foil or paper wrapper as the block of aged flake tobacco....encrusted with natural sugar crystals make that raspy sound as the ....oh well...probably all dried out.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was dried out, as the plasticky rubber stuff they use as the sealing bit in them tins isn't 100% airtight. Still, I'd smoke the bollocks off it.

OLD (LIVE) ST.BRUNO TOBACCO TIN...SEALED

:

...somebody gotta great deal on this for $63 shipped, wish I'd seen it!

The old cutter tops are usually very reliable for maintaining vacuum integrity.

Good stuff,

Holy Ghost!
Here's a James B. Russell 4oz tin like yours that the seller was honest about having a compromised seal, it sold for $40,

St Bruno pipe tobacco Tin 4oz

"Contents still have the St Bruno aroma which is collectible in itself."

Priceless, and true!
I've had a dried out tin from that era and it was quite tasty, although it smoked more like a straight Va. as the St. Bruno special sauce had diminished, yet still very good, I ended up mixing the old stuff with a new pouch for a great effect.
I've seen a JBR-era tin sell for as much as $75 when in fully sealed condition.
I'd say open one up and see how it smokes!
...and you're right about the sugar crystals, it'll probably be covered in crystalline glisten!
Somebody'd give a good dollar amount for such a fine sleeve, I know I would try my best to snag 'em!

I would bet the contents inside those tins are in fine condition. I wouldn't worry one bit, unless they were really tossed around and them maybe on of the seals might come loose. That little rattle inside is usually just the normal movement of the tobacco.

No idea where i got it from.
Yeah, it's too bad about that Pebble Cut. It's almost full and you can see the brittle pressed flakes still intact. Too bad there isn't a way to save it.
All of this was in a storage bin for 10 years until I moved a couple years ago and relocated it to the garage. I had 150 bookcase boxes to go through. I have about 30 left to go through. You wouldn't believe the amount of HO scale trains that came out of them. I've sold a bunch of them on ebay and I am shocked at the prices I am getting for them.

What a find! There's a lot of people (me included) who would make a mighty generous trade for some St. Bruno!
