It will take less time to provide an image of your ID than it will to argue or complain about it. Irritating perhaps but pragmatically, why bother? I'd prefer to spend my time doing something I enjoy than arguing over some mundane bullshit.
I think its just the redundancy of laws constantly passed that bug people.
Its the slippery slope that will eventually make it ILLEGAL to buy any age restricted item online.
Its already the law that you must be 18 to get a credit/debit card. A guardian can add a minor as an authorized user, but that's not the responsibility of the vendor to prove. So far, its assumed that the user is the owner of the card, and therefore able to purchase restricted items.
And stacking laws rarely works.
For instance, there are over 20,000 laws on the books nationwide to keep people from being injured/killed by firearms. But, every day there are firearm injuries and deaths. Will the 20,001st law stop the injuries?
Im pretty sure the number of 12 year olds buying a tin of Gordon Pym online is pretty low.
And the "just incase" thing is also annoying. The OP is trying to buy WAX, not an age restricted item.
I cannot buy knives on Amazon from most vendors. Because NYC has silly knife laws, the rest of the state cannot buy a Case slip joint knife. Amazon just errors on the side of caution, and refuses knife sales to all of NYS.
