Vauen Gandalf Pipe

Recently stumbled upon a boxed vauen Gandalf pipe locally. Despite being from NZ, I have zero interest in the Lord of the Rings, but i thought it might be something of interest to someone. What do these go for these days?

I’d be tempted to get it for my brother as he is a fan of the books and movies, and somewhat intrigued by pipe smoking, but I fear it would just sit on the shelf. I’d be better off to lend him a cob and a few blends.

Was there a specific spot you found it locally? (I’m visiting NZ in March of this year.) I’d love to see if I could track one of these down while I’ll be there.

I have the MacQueen Grey warden. I bored out the bowl to have a longer smoke.

We’ll be both on the north and south islands. And there’s some flex in being able to go out of the way a bit if need be.

Not planning on smoking while there necessarily and I’ve not looked into the duty free rules yet. Is there something I should be aware of?

Each adult can bring 50g duty free (no need to declare). You will then be charged roughly $90nz tax per 50g after that. Pipe tobacco here sells for $130-180nzd per 50g. I tell everyone who is coming to bring the duty free allowance, and I offer an amnesty drop off point for anything which is not smoked
