Heh..... At least it was carryon and they didn't get jostled.

Last trip to Canada I carefully packed my pipes in my carryon, but some a-hole cab driver jammed the suitcase in the trunk such that it broke a billiard, both the tenon and shank.

I don't take my yard pipes traveling necessarily, though it depends on the trip. I don't take my treasures that I couldn't replace either. One tactic you might consider is to get the most ordinary nylon toilet kit from Walmart, etc., as a pipe bag, to inhibit theft, so it looks like they'd be getting your toothbrush and deodorant. I like my great leather pipe bag, but it just invites kleptomania.

At W. Curtis Draper and picked up a few supplies. They still have a sleeve and a half of Aperitif and a few tins of Esoterica blends left. Sad part is you can’t smoke in the store anymore. More pictures coming...

I used to go to D.C. on business once or twice a year. It was a good walking city, at least the mall area, and I'd Metro then hike to the Kennedy center for performances when I had time. In those days, the Metro was beautiful, clean, regular running, on time. One bleak day in winter, I finally encountered a line at the Washington Monument that was short and got to do that. My joke was that, when you went to the Air and Space Museum, all you wanted was air and space. I liked the Convention Center and the nearby Museum of Women's Art and good places to eat in Chinatown. My first and best Ethiopian restaurant was in Georgetown, called the Red Sea. I saw Dizzy Gillespie at The Blue Note. In those years, D.C. was a happening town.

Nice place, were the prices reasonable? It's a shame about a tobacconist not being able to smoke at work..what is this world coming to?

Glad to see you were able to support them. Enjoy!

We’re going to Georgetown tomorrow. I’ll post my thoughts and some pics.

Nice!! Vacation is for enjoyment and relaxation. I take 3 of my most favorite pipes with me. That is enough for rotation no matter how long I am gone.
