I got a surprise phone call this afternoon from our own Frank Berberich, who has been missing from theis forum since early October. He is in very good spirits, pain free,

And hopes to be back home around the end of January. From what he told me, his back pain was from an infection of the gall bladder, which finally had to be removed. Frank plans to call me every week, to give us all a progress report.
So he spent more time in the hospital, and now is back at the nursing home, and even in the same bed as before. He wanted to wish everyone a belated Merry Christmas, ans a Happy New Year, and to say he dearly misses the forum. He appreciated the cards and notes he received, most of them were tossed out when he went back to the hospital, but he enjoyed reading them.
Since Frank’s finally on the mend, anyone who would like to send him a card or note can do so at the address below. Do put his Room Number in the lower left corner, to make sure it gets to him. Frank took my address, and will be sending me his home address. I plan on sending him a Tobacco Care Package, and will make his address available to anyone who would like to help him out with some tobacco. I’ll make a post once I have his home address.

Frank phoned me again today, and is sounding a bit more like his old self, at last. Rather than me having to ask him questions, this time Frank led the conversation. He said that he’s no longer has back pain, but that it seems that for every two steps of progress he makes, he takes one step backwards. He’s begun physical & occupational therapy, but he’s just getting over a digestive tract infection. He still can’t walk, but with the therapy, he should be back up and learning to walk again before too long.
I have Frank’s home address, as well as a list of tobaccos he enjoys, and have a Help-A-Buddy package which will have tobacco and a corncob, ready to go in the mail as soon as Frank says he’s headed back home. Anyone else who would like to help Frank out, since after four months in both the hospital and nursing home, he might need a helping hand, can PM for his address and tobacco list. Pleasr add a Topic line of Frank’s Address. You might want to wait to get his address until he’s closer to going home.

Frank called me again yesterday, and sounds in pretty good spirits for having been in the hospital and nursing home for at least 3 1/2 months so far. He does two hours of physical therapy every day, but still isn't able to stand on his own because of back pain. He's taking muscle relaxers, and hopes they help enough so he can raise myself out of the wheelchair sometime this coming week. He's now hoping to get home by his birthday the middle of next month. He misses everyone here, and says howdy.
