I was one of the folks here who defended the Pipe Cottage channel on YouTube. I really enjoyed the positive message and character Harrellson portrayed in them.

The latest video (parting shot) combined with the one prior have really turned me off. I believe I even heard rumblings of challenging people to duels, or some such,In this episode. Some people can’t let a perceived sleight go, I suppose. The channel went from 100% positive and entertaining to very angry and negative in almost no time. It’s a shame. I see it as a squandered opportunity.

I get that it might be rough for him to be critiqued everywhere, but this goes against even his own principles. From a rather light hearted critique video he goes rage mode, and really gets mad. Don't really care, since pipe youtube is boring anyway, but he isn't making himself more popular with these kinds of videos.

Interestingly enough, I would probably agree with him on 90-95% of the things I consider important. His delivery has just become too negative and arguably self-righteous.

I could probably smoke a pipe with him and have a decent conversation. I think he’s lost his way on social media though.

I think I’ve watched one pipe video and it was when i was trying to figure out smoking flakes. This is like ppl watching other ppl unbox things. I suppose it’s just not for me, if i want to watch someone smoke a pipe (or cigar) I’ll meet up with friends and smoke and talk and live the moments not watch someone else’s moments recorded. I have been watching his videos with a lot of mirth, albeit for all the wrong reasons. It's sad to see yet another narcissistic misanthrope on YouTube play victim. The so-called YTPC is filled with these kinds of absurd characters, and Alan is definitely a character, so it's hard not to view his videos in the same manner that one would watch, say, Skip Bayless: you just cannot help but wonder what goofy stuff he will come up with next.

Still, when he was focused and happy, his videos could be entertaining, and even informative. He is passionate, and I do appreciate that a lot. But now he is just another voice in the inexhaustible engine of pointless rage that is social media. If he wasn't such a misanthrope, I would feel badly for him. But he's another man who tries to gussy up his petty hatreds with religiosity and "traditionalist masculinity." I've had to deal with those kinds of people before, and one is best advised to just avoid those people and let them stew in their own confused rage. It ain't worth it.

I did laugh pretty hard when he complained that his critics don't know anything about him, though. I was like, "My brother in Christ, you told us all where you live, what you do, when you lost your virginity, etc. You cannot stop talking about yourself."

It's a bummer so many YTPC are just boring dudes ranting in front of a phone camera, but it is what it is.

Ok… so I watched a Youtuber, and I’m sure my brain didn’t get hurt like I thought it would. But, let me list my lowest forms of humans in the order in which I despise them the most. From lowest scumbags unworthy of wiping shit off my boots, up to those worthy of wiping shit off on them…

The worst human being is one who sees something that might piss someone else off and sends a link to said person, so that they will be properly pissed. This is a shit stirrer and if found on fire, I would not put them out, even with a rake. I’d oet them burn to ash, because their smoldering ashes would only be an improvement.
These people consider themselves fans of the things they think that they are protecting, but really they are a waste of sperm. A shitstain on humanity.

Just above these tattletale fanboy shitstains are Youtubers, pedaphiles, commies, and serial killers. Ha ha. End of list.

I can't watch pipe YT for the same reason I can't listen to podcasts -- the inefficiency of the information to time ratio.
5 minutes of reading a good book leaves me with 5 minutes of information.
5 minutes of YT or podcast leaves me with 2 seconds of information.

Don't get me wrong -- I'll embrace an inefficient information-time ratio for a live relationship. There's little better than bantering with a friend over a pipe.
But neither YT nor a podcast is a live relationship. So I'll read instead.
