It was a joke that didn’t translate well into a digital format.
Understood.

I have high regard for Danish design, and not just their pipes.

It's just that the prices asked by Danish makers is often mind-boggling when you consider the prices asked by American artisans (and indeed by other nationalities) for their equivalent pieces.

I'm glad there were a couple of people chime in to mention Brigham pipes. Now, I've only ever had Canadian made Brighams (estate finds), and they had been very solid smokers in my experience. However, I have a few friends who own more recent Brighams, and they have absolutely no issues with them. For the price, they have to be one of the better deals around, although overlooked by so many.

Also, my friend has a Lorenzetti that he swears is his best smoker. I do not know how many pipes he owns, but I know he smokes numerous bowls a day, so I trust his judgment on it. I know of no one else who has one so I can't say they are underrated or not, but perhaps they are overlooked as well

The Israeli made Alphas from the 70’s & 80’s coming out of the Shalom factory are some of my favorites. Great engineering & normally wonderful tasting briar, but the stems / bits can be clunky. I’ve got a bunch of them in my collection and love the smoking consistency. The later version made in Sparta after the buyout seemed to fall off significantly.

The older Caminetto's from Radice/Ascorti are some of the finest pipes out there. If I didn't mid acrylic I would own at least a dozen.

The Wilmer AAA Straight Grain pipes are incredible smokers. The stems could be better.

Super Temp, Tar Gard, Venturi(I'm not exactly clear on what their name was)is vastly underappreciated. The Pipe and The Smoke are great smokers...and I would kill to get my hands on one of their Feather Rocks!

I have to agree about Georg Jensen. One of my latest favorites is an very lightweight GJ I got cheap. Seems like Georg Jensen have great value for the price. Not around anymore though.

I have more Stanwells than any other brand and all my experiences with them have been great but I don't have any of the italian production.

Lots of others that have been mentioned here are from brands I have been keeping an eye out for one that fits my preferences. Johs, Brebbia, Svendborg, Neerup, Parker, GBD, Bari. I don't think Norup has been mentioned. That is another brand I'm keeping an eye out for that I have heard good things about.

Yes, Bari is an excellent pipe. My late wife's aunt gave me one as a Christmas present about 40 years ago, and it is still in fine shape, an extra large chamber on a modestly sized pipe, and handsome design. The bit has been chewed through, but it is mostly newish looking. The Danish have a great eye for design. It is traditional but has that extra little panache, smooth dark stain finish and a nice curved bent stem, a billiard.
