I would have easily placed money on Tyson, if I were the betting sort... until I saw them both side by side yesterday. Now, I am not so sure that this will be an easy match.

I don't know Paul, never seen him fight, nor am I familiar with his antics that everyone seems so critical of. But, side by side, Paul seems to have an advantage and seems healthier.

From the newspaper :

"The reality is he’s a 58-year-old man with a history of health issues who lost 26lbs in May after an ulcer flare-up that left him throwing up blood and defecating tar, prompting the postponement of the fight from July to November."

It doesn't bode well but i'd love to see him do it. In his prime Mike would've absolutely destroyed Paul.

This is an insult to the sport of boxing, and I'm not really sure why Tyson even agreed to do this, is he in need of money? Hopefully it's to teach this clown a lesson. If Tyson doesn't put Paul in the hospital then the fight is fake. We're talking about, arguably, the greatest heavyweight of all time, fighting a social media star who is larping as a boxer. lt's a joke.

Well, free and streaming, I'll join the circus.....

Someone tell me enough to dislike that Jake guy, as it'll make the "fight" more interesting, please.

Someone tell me enough to dislike that Jake guy,
As far as I can figure, he used to be an actor on a Disney series. That's enough for me. But, I have seen huge lists of reasons why people hate him. Apparently, he is a run off at the mouth kind of guy.
I can barely find anything on him actually boxing. He just started boxing 4 years ago, but has had seven pretty easy KO's. The more I look into him, the less confident I become that he can actually stay in the ring with Tyson, even with Tyson's huge health issues and age.

Somebody before mentioned his punchable face...

Really though he's fighting an old guy, who could pull for him.

He's, as they refer to in wrestling, the "heel."

Done.

From today's newspaper:

Paul didn’t shy away from his earning power at Wednesday’s final press conference when he sneered at undercard fighter Bruce Carrington, a Brooklyn featherweight who’d doubted his chances: “The time I spend taking a shit is how much you make in your whole life, buddy. Shut the fuck up.”

I hope Mike bites his ear off👂

Yeah, in his prime Mike Tyson would send that kid back in time and end the fight . Let's see what happens, in boxing it's possible for anyone to KO anyone else with a right punch on the chin.

Seeing old Mike Tyson fights you see his back and legs and feel the power he delivered, now he looks like a deeply saddened man, though. Then again if I look like that when I'm 58 I'll be happy!

Jake Paul is in fighting shape... don't get me wrong, fighting him won't be a cakewalk, but I don't think he stands a chance against Tyson. Tyson is a different type of animal with decades of experience behind him. Paul is not. He's a loud mouthed rich kids from the suburbs who's never known struggle... ever. Four years ago he just decided, "It'd be cool to be a boxer," had the money to make it happen, and since then has had only a handful of fights.. only in the Cruiserweight & LHW divisions, and not always against boxers. This will be his first Heavyweight fight, and he's fighting arguably one of the greatest heavyweights of all time.

There's a story about an old bull and a young bull that is coming to mind.

I can't ignore that most of the rhetoric surrounding this match is the exact same as when Archie Moore came out of retirement to show a young Cassius Clay what's what. Everybody knew that Moore was going to shut up the Louisville Lip. Needless to say, Ali beat the shit out of that old man.

Not saying this will necessarily go the same way, but it's looking hella similar.

If this were a real fight Jake Paul would end up in the morgue. Mike is a monster, who still has insane speed, power, and reaction time; plus a lifetime of professional training and fight knowledge. Jake Paul is a hobbyist who dabbles in boxing iin order to generate social media clicks. This whole thing is cringeworthy

You forgot something.

Clay was a once-in-several-generations SuperTalent who literally redefined the sport.

While punk moron idiot POS whatshisname is many things (most notably a punk, a moron, a POS, and an idiot), he's no Cassius Clay.

I agree with you there, but that was the exact point expressed in the last sentence of my post that you excluded:

"Not saying this will necessarily go the same way, but it's looking hella similar."

Hmmmm.... That's because I was responding to your first point, not the conditional add-on sentence. ;)

At that point in Clay's career, followers of boxing accused him of being all hype because his managers (as all good managers do) only arranged fights they thought he could win. Think what you want about Paul (I certainly do), but the fact remains that he's in the same boat.

Maybe he'll have a long career and become a great and maybe he won't. He's still an unknown commodity minus one impressive win. He annoys you and he annoys me but at this point in Clay's career, the same was of most fans and that's all they knew of him. Until Clay vs. Liston, everybody thought he was a fluke.

The squoink in all that ^^^^ being the Pillow Glove thing.

Beating Tyson in a pillow fight at 59 will prove only that human cardio takes a big dive the older you get. Something we already know.

Beating Tyson with regulation gloves would mean all sorts of significant stuff.
