I'm not sure why you're disputing the facts. Downdetector logged over 85,000 reports of lagging service for the fight and Netflix refuses to respond to inquiries.i guess research is subjective to what you're looking for.

Good grief! I am not disputing that there was a lot of lagging and stuttering streams. I maintain that it's not necessarily due to shortcomings at Netflix. It may be, but ISPs may bear the greater blame, or may not. Could well be a combination of Netflix, ISPs and faults in the network trunk lines.

Which is why I quoted the downdetector stats as they don't rely on individual ISP issues.

Downdector relies on many sources for its data. The mass of reports did not indicate, much less prove, fault; merely that folks had real problems streaming,

Did you even read post 101? No one in this thread has blamed ISPs as the sole cause of the problems.

Thank you. In that spirit, I deleted your post of 20 minutes ago that is 180º from what you just wrote.

I'd be interested to know where and what caused the bottlenecks. And did 'Flix send the stream from Texas to Los Gatos and from there distributed across the world? Or ... a dozen possibilities.

I share your disdain for unaccountability, be it e.g. Microsoft, or the convenient store a block away.
