Who does? Luckily, I live in an area where even the rush hour only lasts a certain amount of time. Big city folks wouldn't even call it a rush hour. My worst experience was a sudden glazed ice storm that coated the roads everywhere. Children stayed overnight in school. I poked my way home with ultra care, even taking a misguided turn and back-tracking, and it took me about five hours. When I got home and watched the news on TV, I felt lucky it only took five hours and I hadn't had a wreck. I think some auto body shop owner retired on that one. This is a Southern U.S. hazard that is generally overlooked, a kind of a mean trick in the sunbelt.

I got bagged so many times going down the break down lane it wasn't funny. I had a 1600.00 surcharge on my insurance before I got in the car business, then voila a clean record. That was so cool. I never had to pay the tab as I was under the dealers insurance and I never had to pay the tab. I cooled it down when I was in the car biz as I didn't want that shit coming back to haunt me,

My first license plate I had to turn in because it had so many parking tickets on it that I would be getting the boot sooner than later. Back in the days of no computers I just turned it in for a new plate and no big deal. I ignore the bill for payment and went on my way. All I had to do was turn in the pate and I got a new one with a new record, it was great. I got so many tickets when I was renting apartments in Boston. You always had to double park and some days you got lucky, other days they ate your lunch.

Life has certainly changed. Sometimes I see the police here walking down the street looking for expired inspection stickers so not only the can issue a ticket but if they are lucky so that they find some outstanding violation and have the car towed.

I will add this, smoking a pipe while driving has immensely increased my patience while driving. Getting frustrated in traffic is a good way to cause an accident and get injured or worse.
I also smoke when I drive and after discovering the world of podcasts I listen to interesting stuff as well. Driving has become such a pleasure now that sometimes I even catch myself going under the limit.
