Since I haven’t been playing with the band...I’ve had maybe three or four glasses of scotch since March. Usually Fridays, when I play music, I’d have a couple beers and a little whiskey. Sometimes a few beers on a lazy Sunday.

Ive never really been a huge drinker, But there have been plenty of occasions when Ive tied one on pretty good and went nuts, mostly in my early 20s. These days its pretty rare for me to go more than 4 or 5 drinks a week, if I even hit that mark. I guess Ive been lucky to be able to maintain a healthy relationship with drink.

Ive seen alcohol wreck the lives of a few people close to me, and its just not worth it in my eyes to get too deep into the stuff. Ive also seen it not quite wreck a life, yet still control a persons life socially and to some degree physically, and I could tell that they struggled.

I once worked with a guy landscaping...Juan was his name...i needed-NEEDED-to stop working at noon, drive to the nearest store and buy him two 24oz Milwaukee beers or he would start to shake. I once found him trembling under a bush in a customers back yard, handed him his beers and watched as he stopped shaking after pounding the first one, then slowly gained more composure as he downed the second. It took him less than two minutes to drink 48oz of beer. It was sad to see someone in a state like that.

I've never struggled with alcohol, but I have struggled with hard drugs. The last time I used was Oct. 29th 2018, and let me say that sobriety is probably the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Although it's gotten a bit easier, it's still something I think about every day, something I will probably have to contend with the rest of my life.

I think for me I just got fed up with it all. Tired of sticking myself, tired of ending up in hospitals, just tired of the junky lifestyle.

My point in all this is I believe in every one of you who is struggling. Don't lose faith in yourself, you can overcome this obstacle. It's not easy, but it is rewarding.

It pretty much doesn't matter how depressed I am, I'd never resort to drinking.
A: At Canadian prices there's no way I can afford it (same as the idea of smoking daily).
B: Alcohol is a testosterone blocker and I'm in a weightlifting program. I do however try to take 10ml of alcohol every day. In very small amounts alcohol will lower LDL cholesterol (Most days I still forget to take my medicine though, I'm pretty bad that way).

I've never gotten drunk, so alcohol has never been about that for me. Just like pipe tobacco, I'm in it mostly for the flavor.

I'll have 1-2 beers a week, and maybe a glass of bourbon or rum every week or two.

I'm smoking about a bowl more a day though.

I drink two out of three days, and go through a bottle of bourbon and a six pack of craft beer or two per week. Probably a little more than I should but it is something I really enjoy. I never let alcohol negatively impact my job or my time with my family.

thank you
Starting around age 15-16 we started drinking quite a bit.. trying to “slam them” and get drunk since it tasted so bad. Kept with it heavy all through college, even after my best friend died in his sleep at age 22 from an interaction between drinking and taking pills. Right before I graduated I met my wife. At this point I was drinking to the point of blacking out roughly 5 nights a week. I’d often wake up and wonder how the hell I got home only to look outside and see my car parked. I’d obviously driven home again. I’d even done this from cities 2 hours away. Luckily my wife (girlfriend at the time) said that I wasn’t doing that anymore... and was amazed I had survived until that point. From then on I basically quit. Early on I’d still have a few beers here and there. Now I rarely ever even have 1 beer. Drinking one beer or even two just makes me tired rather than getting to the old “buzz point” of and I don’t really enjoy that feeling of wanting to just sleep. I don’t crave drinking anymore or even really think about it. I can see alcohol or beers and not have any desire to drink one. To me, it’s a good feeling.

that was 2007.. married now since 2008. ?

My grandfather died while driving under the influence. Thus, I was raised NO alcohol. In the last 10 years or so, I will drink a glass of wine or beer, a few times a year. But I am very careful. I know the dangers.

I do remember a time with a new pain med. The world started spinning for a few hours. Probably as close as I have been to drunk. The lack of control frightens me.
