Peretti's Omega is amazing. Like, how-is-everybody-not-talking-about-this good.

I've not yet had Royal or Tashkent -- apparently I need to.

Like @Philosopiper, I may like PP better than PPSR. I might put it this way: the SR does some things better than PP, but the things it does better are not PP things. As an expression of PP, the original is best.

Now the Bourbon Barrel Aged is a whole different tobacco -- it's like smoking bourbon. The bourbon sublimates the tobaccos pretty drastically (unless you let it dry out too much... but then, what was the point of paying extra for the BBA?)

(I recently mixed up about 5 oz. total of 40% PP-BBA, 35% Northwoods, and 25% Whiskey Biscuit Gravy. It's delicious. But I might adjust it to 50/30/20.)

Penzance is, to me, better than all of the above. I have maybe 9 oz. of it left, and I smoke it only on special occasions.

... So another Esoterica thread, with a deceptively non-Esoterica title.

Consumers seemed to of hyped the market, and probably all those shiny Instagram pics... LOL ?

Ok lets talk Gawith, McClleland, and Mac Baren... :)

I have a 2012 tin of Squadron Leader, I’m assuming this year is Syrian, because it’s sweet. I have a 2015 tin of Mac Baren HH Vintage Syrian, also sweet, and a 2011 tin of McClelland Blue Mountain which is also sweet.

I’ve never had Penzance, so if it’s more of a smoky Latakia, I don’t care for the smoky Cyprian Latakia, it’s my understanding Syrian is sweeter.

The point being, if others want sweet, these you’ll want on your radar, so regardless of all they hype, there are many great blends, and I guess there’s not a lot of hype about these three.

And there’s also not a lot of hype over other great blends too.

There’s just way to much tabac out there, to be bothered chasing...
