About thirty years ago my now retired dentist put an enormous filling in my upper left molar and said he couldn’t guarantee how long it would last.

It hurts like a toothache this morning.:)

I have an appointment with a new dentist at two this afternoon, to see if they can pull it or if I’ll have to have antibiotics first to get the swelling down.

I have a bottle of good bourbon but I don’t want the dentist to think I’m a drunk.

Any other good home remedies for a toothache?

It’s not so bad I can’t smoke.:)

Shut this one down.

It's a life or death tooth emergency and those are against the rules.

They shut mine down. Fair is fair.
different situation. Not the same thing. at all. The thing you're not thinking about is mouths are just disgusting and leaving a wound alone has the potential to get super deadly infected pretty darn quickly.
I knew someone that almost died from punching a complete jerk in the face. A tooth came out and got stuck in their fist. (again the other guy reduced the option to the point where face punches were reasonable). The next day the puncher was sick to the point of insensibility and their hand was comically bloated. All from bacteria in the mouth.
Of course I'am a hypocrite cause I'd do the same thing you did and see where it goes. But there is a difference between taking a personal risk for no good reason and recommending it to someone else.

Hopefully it’s not a pipe tooth. I cracked one of mine and unfortunately the crown doesn’t hold a pipe. I went from being a comfortable clencher to a fidgety hand holder it one bite.

That dentist is the best one I’ve ever had. Got me right in, made time to extract a bad tooth, not a single bit of pain or torture, and since I’m a geezer they only charged me a hundred dollars and my Medicare Advantage will pay the other $329.

I’m already home and the varmit is gone.

They’ll give dentists a good name.

I’m glad to hear that the extraction went smoothly. What are you planning to do for the gap? Have an implant, bridge, nothing?

Glad you're OK . This place wouldn't be the same w/out you .

Interesting , as a kid I believe I had the best dentist in Iowa . Dr Gary Dundee in Center Point .
I had my share of cavities , but he had a trick/tactic he employed : he would sneak the Novocain needle low so I couldn't see it . Then he would wiggle the gum as he poked it in ......I didn't realize I had been given shots til I was a teenager !

He retired , and my next dentist's needle technique was something akin to a samurai warrior !
