Hey guys, I recently started picking up the pipe and am really enjoying it. I was wondering though I’ve seen an uptick in tonsil stones and wanted to know if this could be because of smoking (maybe a couple bowls a week) or maybe it’s just cause of seasonal allergies?? If anyone has this issue has there been anything you’ve done to avoid this or help it get better?? Thanks for any and all advice!

Taking out childdrens' tonsils was a medical bad habit when I was growing up, so I was happy to escape that. I've never heard of stones. How do they manifest themselves?

It's gonna be gross but the are white/yellow hard spots that develop on the tonsils. I can feel them back there, kind of feels like I have a popcorn kernel or something in my throat. Can cause a bad taste in your mouth/give bad breath.

Edit: eventually they tend to break loose and you either swallow them or spit them out.

They are an inevitable part of having tonsils. People who don’t think they get them just don’t notice them haha. It’s just food and bacteria buildup in the cavities of your tonsils, I believe. I’ve had them occasionally since childhood and I haven’t noticed any increase in frequency since beginning pipe smoking.
