So Ive smoked cigarettes and cigars since I was 15 I'm a few days a way from 40. When I first smoked a pipe I bought black cavendish and it tasted like nothing I have ever had. So I went crazy and tried a ton of aromatics mostly with black cavendish. Then I tried English which is now my favorite particularly Latakia. Again it's like nothing Ive ever had. Next week I'm going to get something new but Ive notice very similar flavors with all the aros and Latakia blends or English. Like Match Revelation, Match Barking Dog, Early Morning, Nightcap, all are great but similar.

Any suggestions for something new thats nothing like any of those things? Side note cost isn't an issue, and I don't care about nicotine lvl either way high or low.

You may consider trying some Dark Fired Kentucky. If you like Latakia, then you may like DFK as well. DFK and Latakia both have 'a' smokiness, but the smoky flavor is a lot different. HH Old Dark Fired is a good DFK, and also comes in bulk.
I was looking at the DFK but was scared it would be similar to the others I already have. I love them, but I'm looking for something totally different.

Are Virgina blends similar to cigarettes? I been avoiding them I know cigarettes use Burley and Virginia.
I think what you’re asking is a matter of semantics. The blends you mentioned that you liked have either Burley or Virginia or even both. Cavendish can be and is made with both. As for the cig question, I can honestly say that I have never had a true pipe tobacco (Burley or Virginia) taste like a cig. The difference is in how each is processed and where on the plant it comes from. Do some online research into tobacco varieties and processes that make different “styles” of tobacco such as Cavendish or Perique. Just my 2 cents.

All a matter of individual taste, but I enjoy Virginia blends and am getting to enjoy them more and if they tasted anything even remotely resembling a cigarette to me I wouldn't touch them, or any other pipe tobacco if it did, and haven't experienced one so far. So I don't think they are similar.

I roll my own cigarettes and I buy American Club Pipe tobacco Red. It's a Burley Virgina blend and the lady at my local B&M told me its cigarette tobacco she was right. My fear was always with out that Cavendish flavor it was just going to be a cigarette. American Club isn't the only one their are a few I've used, I definitely want to avoid any brand that is like that.

Yeah, there is a bunch of “bag tobacco” out there that say pipe tobacco on them to skirt taxes so, your fears are not unfounded. But like I said the way they are processed and quality of leaf is what separates most cig tobacco from pipe tobacco even though they both may be Burley or Virginia also. Just remember…..google knows everything and is your friend 😉

I seconed the deer tongue for a unique smoke and I also think a good Oriental mixture might suit your fancy. But if I were to recommend something that is unique I would grab a tin or 2 of,

Hearth & Home marquee series "El Nino Repasado" not the regular production but the "Repasado" version. It's a limited blend that I just did a review on. I haven't been smoking that long, but in the short 4 years I've been smoking, this blend was completely different then anything else I've tried.

Also, if you haven’t checked it out tobaccoreviews.com is a good place to start for ballpark ideas.

Not at all, at least to me. Virginia blends have a very nice sweet and spicy flavoring to them. They will taste ashy if smoked too fast causing the tobacco to become too hot. At least in my opinion, if smoked properly, Virginia blends, flakes especially, are the Kings of Pipe Tobacco. Warning. If you take the time to learn how to smoke Virginia blends properly, be prepared to sit aside your other blends and ignore them.

I wouldn't get too locked into components, because the context and application is so different between rolling tobacco and pipe tobacco. The burley you're smoking in your RYO is not the same as you'll find for a pipe. For one, the cuts are different, and they smoke differently because of that alone. And then when you add all the other components and alchemy to it, you've created a very different animal and flavor palette. You might love latakia in your pipe, but do you love it in a cigarette? I like cigars, but I don't care for cigar leaf in my pipe tobacco much at all.

Having (probably unnecessarily) said all that, maybe something like C&D Night Train would be interesting to you. It is on the high end of nicotine, has the nuttiness of a good burley, the sweetness of a virginia, and the fruitiness of perique. I find it to have a very "pure" tobacco overall flavor, and it is robust. Like if you ever wished a good loose leaf chew tobacco could be captured in a pipe tobacco, this is in that direction.

I have thought that actually. Southern Pride and Levi Garretts I've always wished came in a pipe tobacco. I don't chew but I've tried it once or twice. Thanks.
