Yes, they are scarce here these days. Two or three anemic releases a year that sell out rather quickly.

A basic Virginia I have been enjoying lately is SG Golden Glow. Many would call it boring. A much more popular one is Full Virginia Flake. I think someone mentioned it above as FVF.

Dark Bird's Eye is a stout shag to explore.

Read up on the "Lakeland" essence before getting off the beaten path with these two companies. Some love it and many hate it.

GH North Star is a Va/Bur I had some time ago that I enjoyed. Then the ropes, a whole new experience.

Just a quick word in support of some aromatic blends. There are numerous approaches to creating an aro. Unfortunately, most blenders choose the low road by developing a consistent sauce that provides the aroma and can be applied to leaf of varying, but typically lesser, quality (I won't provide specific examples as I don't want to insult anyone's favorite blends). An alternate approach are those blenders that start with a high-quality tobacco base and lightly apply a casing to create a much higher quality product (e.g. DTM Sweet Vanilla Honeydew). Similarly, some blenders use a light touch to bring out the best of the leaf they are working with (e.g. Burley Light/Without Bite or Edward G. Robinson Blend). I guess my point is, don't write off the aromatic genre too quickly. Unless you have determined that flavored tobacco is really not in your wheelhouse, then go for it!

Yep, tried loads months ago.
Most samplers send you pretty much the same stuff, what ever they have loose of at that particular time in the shop. Can't get something like a FVF in a sample and I'm fully ready to move on from them but thank you for your suggestion ??

You’ll inevitably work your way to Lakeland’s and have a WTF moment. Whether it’s a “why have I wasted my time smoking everything else?” or “Yuck! I feel like I have someone’s grandma in my mouth” I can’t say.

So jump into the deep end son. Buy yourself some ennerdale and work backwards from there!

Edit: just reread the wording of the grandma comment. It was not supposed to sound dodgy. I’ll leave those sort of remarks to condor and harris

This enough to dip into waters new, I think one more ?

Looks like you have missed out on Burley, DFK, Virginia and VaOr blends thus far. I'm not a big fan of Burley blends but do like DFK, Virginia and VaOr blends. For DFK I'd recommend Mac Baren Old Dark Fired and Bold Kentucky along with Orlik Dark Strong Kentucky. All of those a readily available. There are many other DFK blends as well, those are popular and easy to get.

Virginia blends are plentiful but many can be a bit challenging to obtain. For that reason, I'd recommend you try GL Pease Union Square and C&D Opening Night. Both are good and easy to obtain. Also Mac Baren HH Pure Virginia and their blend labeled Virginia Flake. Both very good IMHO and easy to obtain. Newminster 400 is a very good value bulk blend that is usually available.

Virginia Oriental blends can also be a bit difficult to obtain. I'd recommend C&D Bijou, Sunday Picnic and Oriental Silk. All readily available and quite good.

Trying these blends should let you know if you're going to be interested in that genre. I could recommend 25 more Virginia blends and if you went to buy them, you'd find them out of stock. If you find you like the genre, you can then line up for "chase the hard to find blends" race. Good luck.
