I dont do it but I can see how vanilla or fruit might not go with wood smoke.

Id agree...a lat forward blend or something hearty. Maybe think savory rather than sweet. If its a big or smokey fire I could imagine it overpowering blends that are light and subtle. Something that at other times might be a flavor bomb may just do the job.

I love GLP Quiet Nights and I bet the Piney/juniper presence would go nicely with a fire.

If it's not windy, I think I'd smoke something sweet or fruity, or both, as the campfire provides the rest. A mac baren HH virginia, Navy flake, Capstan gold, St. Bruno, Wessex, other aromatics, but nothing with latakia.

I think for me it would depend on the season. If I’m camping or around a fire in the height of summer, when it’s hot and humid, I might just be smoking a cigar, even though I’m not a huge cigar smoker. My cousin gave me one last year that was dark fired Kentucky forward which I thought was amazing but can’t recall what it was…anyways if I’m smoking a pipe in summer then a Virginia or vaper blend would be my choice. In the fall def an English would be my choice.

When I have the fire pit going with my family around I'll try to smoke something with a nice room note, and that's usually an aromatic. When I'm by myself though, I just smoke whatever I'm in the mood for at that time of day. I find that the time of day influences my preference more than the activity I pair with a pipe.

It depends on the weather, but I associate a good campfire with calm autumn weather and good company. I find just simply having anything to smoke is pleasant enough. But if I had to choose, I would go with a stout Burley or DFK blend. Probably Irish Flake or Old Joe Krantz. A good Maduro cigar also pairs well.

Most likely a Drew Estate Kentucky Fire Cured. They are a fun change of pace.

Sorry I don't have a suggestion (I'm too new at this.) But reading all of the replies I'm thinking to myself, man!, this is such a great hobby/pastime. So many different picks and variety, yet they are all personal and there is no wrong answer. Pretty cool I think!
