Man, I cracked open my first tin of Peterson Irish Flake and was hit with a very strong aroma of Anise (Licorice), which came thru in the smoke as I smoked it too. Not too happy about the heavy topping.

Sorry to hear that. Try giving it a few more tries. Sometimes I hate a blend on the first go then a couple bowls later I'm hooked! Also, did you try letting it dry out for a little bit before you smoked it?

I can smell a hint of licorice too, as I'm smelling the new tin right now. I also could pick up a smell of raisins or maybe figs with this one here. After a few minutes of airing out it does start to go away and it helps make it a little less high maintenance smoke.

Put the tin away for 2 or 3 weeks and then try it again, I think you might be surprised what a little air and time will do for the blend... :puffy:
