This is yet another prime example of how utterly clueless older adults are when it comes to messaging to the younger generations. In this irony-poisoned youth culture, the "poison in every puff" ciggy will be a goddamned collector's item. :ROFLMAO:
Back in college there was a brand called “Black Death” with a skull and cross bones on the front………I searched high and low for a pack to no luck ever trying them but damn if I didn’t spend a good year asking store after store if they carried them.

Was it this brand?

This really goes to show that there's no way to satisfy nanny state busy bodies. Every time they introduce a more extreme anti smoking measure it's a tacit admission that the last one didn't really work. Do these clowns really think that somebody unfazed by the gore porn warning label on the pack is going to change their mind because of a text warning?

I'm glad the First Amendment has prevented graphic warning labels from appearing on cigarettes in America, though I'm sure the FDA wants to change that. It'll be an uphill battle for them, but I seriously doubt we'll ever get plain packaging let alone for cigars and pipe tobacco.

When the matter they screech about and demand to control is trivial, they're called "Karens".

When the matter is more significant, they're called "Politicians".

When the matter involves the deaths of tens of millions, a la Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Pol Pot, Genghis Khan, etc., they're called "Monsters".

Regardless of the level they achieve, all they want, all they care about---the only thing they are hardwired TO care about---is gaining, maintaining, and exercising power over others.

He recently derailed the rise of authoritarianism as if he doesn't epitomize it. Next time I'm in Canada I'll be tempted to buy a carton of cigs just to spite him

Seriously. I can't take ANYTHING that comes out of Canada even remotely seriously. As bad as things are here in the US, I'm immensely glad I don't live in Canada.

Indeed.

Because of the proximity, low-hassle border, shared language, and so forth, for generations Canada felt like a friendly, low-stress, northern extension of the USA.

Turns out the constitutional freedoms and protections provided by the Canadian system of government wasn't quite what most people assumed, though... The place was friendly and agreeable because the people in charge wanted it that way.

When the people in charge suddenly stopped wanting it that way, however, it became clear there's nothing in place to stop them.

So what's really going on when they know things like this /\ /\ /\ but pick only on tobacco?

Canada has always enjoyed excellent PR, anybody who still buys it hasn't been paying attention or is the same breed of omnipotent moral busybody as Trudeau.

Why not put images of pickled livers on alcohol bottles? Oh, it's because alcohol is socially acceptable and tobacco isn't.
As a recovering alcoholic who has destroyed their life several times with alcohol, it's really amazing how alcohol avoids all the negative attention! It's got to be one of the worst drugs with very little real benefit. I was thinking about this when the govt. said they'll review marijuana's Schedule I classification, including if it has any medical uses. How is alcohol not on the schedule??

Every Canadian cigarette will soon carry a health warning

I should imagine the powers that be will be scratching their heads to come up with something equally extreme for pipes & pipe tobacco.

BTW, I had to look up 'tipping paper', never come across that one before.

Regards,

Jay.

If they really cared about people eating smoke then they should put out the forest fire.

No THIS is extreme. Guy was smoking at a park in NY and cops told him he was breaking the law and asked for ID and he said no, might have said fuck know who cares because this was their response, notice the cop pick the butt up off the ground i guess as evidence. Now this is NYC where violent crime is being reduced, not the statistics the penalties for crime is being reduced. Cashless bail instead of coming up with bail, and all the other things that are deterrents. Count the cops it takes to arrest a businessman for not giving the cops an ID for smoking a cigarette. I’m sure their report will pained a different picture.
