That's a gorgeous pipe!!
And I haven't even started cleaning the briar. The previous owner (passed away at the age of 79 in 2017) must have loved this pipe. The bowl isn't badly caked but he left some deep tooth impressions in the stem.

Try this trick...
Slide a pipe cleaner through the stem and run just the bit under the hottest water coming out of your tap.
I have found this is an easy way to reduce the impressions with little to no work.

Thanks. I will try that. I've never had any luck with holding vulcanite stems over a candle or lighter.
