Thinning out my pipe collection because I am hitting the road. I have about 27 pipes in my collection and I am going to keep 7 pipes. Which 7 would you keep?

To begin with I'd keep the four Petersons, lol! Honestly, I don't know anything about the others.

I have no idea what any of them mean to you so won't presume to say.

From someone who is hardly a veteran at all this . . .

I just culled out six pipes last week - went overboard with buying pipes IMO over a relatively short time. They were darn nice pipes, I could have kept them and even given the unsmoked ones a chance, but what they all had in common was I just didn't give them much of a look when it came to picking something to use. All nice to look at, but if I'm not going to use them they don't need to be around, and as I've gotten to know what I like I realized they weren't it. Now someone else can hopefully make some good use of them and I really won't miss them. And if my wife sees a couple customs show up she knows the herd is still smaller overall - and, lol, she really doesn't care.

Making my list tonight and will post in the AM. Definitely selling the Dunhill as it is not a filter pipe. So far I am keeping the Vauen Fuji, Winslow Hand Cut E, an Altinok Meer that is not on the list and will sleep on the rest and decide tomorrow.

Yep Sable makes the right point..which ones do you smoke the most. Although..maybe a couple have special meaning you just don’t smoke them that often..yep it’s tough?

Without knowing what criteria you use to rate pipes, it'll be difficult to advise.

I have lots of Bulldogs, yet there are some here who dislike them.
There are those who will only have bents. Others only straights.
For some. If a pipe does not pass a cleaner, it's a deal breaker.
Then there are some who will only have smooths. Or sandblasts.
Some members will only have vulcanite stems, and others who would rather acrylic.
I won't have pipes with filters. You obviously prefer them.
Some love straight grain, others Birdseye.
There are pipes others think beautiful, where I only see ugliness. And vice versa.

Your pipes. Your choice.

My question to myself will be " if I lost THAT pipe, how much will I feel it's loss ? Will I look for an exact replacement ? "
