The movie title can be misleading. This isn't a shoot em up action flick. If you haven't seen it watch the trailer, then you'll be hooked.
Easily one of the best movies made in the 21st century.
Btw, my avatar is the main character of this movie.
It could be said that this is a horror movie where the monster is the main character.

There Will Be Blood is an excellent film. Daniel Day Lewis is one of my favorite actors. I can't think of a movie in which he gave a poor performance. I only wish he took more roles. 29 credits in 46 years isn't exactly prolific.

There Will Be Blood is about the infancy of the oil business, the driven ambition of a visionary man, the price of a soul and the folly of pride. Stuff happens, some of it violent, most of it a blend action and drama.

I HAD a copy, but I think it hasn't been returned from a loan out. I own only a few dvd's that I'd keep as collectible, and this is one.

George Orwell is an idiot and an apologist.
The book he responded to, from 12 years earlier, is a work worth noting...
Is it a work worth naming? Possibly we're talking about Katharine Burdekin. In which event, I should caution against making the perfect the enemy of the good--and good books can come from bad men, no?
Daniel Day Lewis is a legend.

It is a great movie, yes.

One of its main qualities is that it deniably is an accurate depiction of where greed can lead individuals.

I have not read Swastika Night, but Orwell's book, which I do like, points as much of a finger at Socialism as it does Communism... or any ism. Problem with that is Orwell was a Socialist, so IMHO was not clued in enough to know he was criticizing his own beliefs. It's one of half a dozen books I have read more than twice. I will look into the other, but I still like 1984.

i have to say i did grudgingly like this film with the first viewing. i thought the ending was rigidly faithful, uncompromising and did not pander to the audience. that kind of ending was reminiscent of secret window and, more recently, no country for old men which i had more trouble with and to this day am not sure if i liked it or not.

I'm not much of a film watcher but after reading this thread I just ordered this film (two disc version...no idea what's on the second disc) and Gangs Of New York :puffy:
Regards,
Jay.

Two disc of Gangs is second half of movie. The extras include interactive tour of Five Points. Remarkable.

I'm not generally given to absolutes, but in my opinion, Daniel Day-Lewis does not participate in poor-quality films.

Okay, gottcha, Jay. I repurchased Gangs on BluRay, which was one disc. I've seen blood a few times when I was getting Netflix DVD's. If I get in the mood for it again, and I will, I will buy that one as well.

One the best movies I've ever watched. It actually took me few days to digest it. I would like to watch it again, however it is really hard to find almost 3 hours to watch a movie :)
