Yo Peck and w'sroad - some thoughts about LC2, the second version of Love Canal, which turned out to be quite the masterful blend without the eyeball-crossing nicotine hit of the predecessor. The foundation of this especially tasty concoction consists of the unique D&R Acadian Bright Virginia, amplified by some D&R Decade Series Perique. The whole leaf KY Dark Fired provides a wonderful basenote to the harmonic and piquant taste profile. The Izmir reminds me of the late McClelland Virginia No.24, even though that uses Drama; and the earthy tanginess manages to wend its way through the assertive flavors of the D&Rs and KY Dark Fired. The 5100 stays very far in the background, since the other four ingredients are so extroverted. Even though this wonderful taste experience is young in age, LC2 exhibits an abundance of flavors and has the smoothness of a much older blend. More than most complex blends, the tastes of the individual components are articulate and manifest themselves at different times as the bowl's pyrolysis progresses. Sometimes blends with multiple competing ingredients end up tasting muddled and lacking focus. I'm twisting Dan's arm for a serious stash of this very tasty creation.

Thank you, Les.
I’m quite pleased with this blend. Although the blend is young, the smoothness and total absence of tongue bit are probably attributable to the advanced age of the individual components. And there is nothing in this blend but tobacco. No flavorings, no humectants. 5100 is the only prepared tobacco in the blend. I’m going to try replacing that with aged whole leaf Red Virginia and see how that goes.

Hooray!! Am very happy to see that that you have received the Christmas box! I hope that the contents will bring you much enjoyment for the years to come.
Dan, thank you once again for your time and effort in organising this. We know it is no small task.

A package arrived for me the other day from SP. "Hmmmm", I thought, "I haven't ordered anything from them lately, what's this?". Things were busy around the house, so I didn't get to open it until today.

Peck, thank you for such a wonderful, unexpected gift. Three fantastic blends, one of which I've never tried (the Burley Flake). Thank you!

FINALLY getting my forgetful old self around to cracking Christmas, a magnificent package of Esoterica blends from the estimable npod. I'd meant to schlep it along with me on our trip & fergitted.
Grabbed a jarlet at random & it turned out to be Dunbar. Had just the right pipe handy to put it in, too, an unsmoked Jobey Hand Rubbed. Fabulous stuff, thanks, Neal!!

Glad the goods were intact, Bill (Brian). I had never sent tobacco in the mini mason jars and I was concerned if they would hold up. As an experiment, I loaded up a few myself in November and opened one yesterday and the tobacco was perfect.

These are the Mason jars I used. I like the idea very much for sending tobacco samples/gifts. They hold 1 oz of tobacco perfectly.

Boy, do I have neat handwriting. Almost look like a chick wrote that.
Many thanks, Dan. Just wanted to show you that your effort is appreciated.

^^^ Dunno, ash. Was it supposed ta?
The bad thing is now I have this mental image of jello-tobaccy shots in my head & I can't get it out. eminds me of the times we unloaded the traverse guns using Captain Black Cranapple on the RMS Lollipop. Damn, what a mess. Even the cleaning fluid wouldn't get the dried gunk off the deck....

My wife and I are were out today running errands. We stopped at the local Hallmark shop to look at the after Christmas sale. While looking at the sale/clearance items I found this 2013 Hallmark Snowman Icicle ornament smoking a pipe. Some lucky Secret Santa giftee will probably receive this ornament along with some tobacco next year. I already put it in my tobacco cellar for safe keeping. It's not easy to find a snowman or Santa with a pipe these days.
