I mostly do not like their attitude how if a quarter of my untracked mail gets lost
I call BS on 25% of your mail being consistently lost..
I just don't know who to complain to where it will get entertained
go to your post office and talk with the Post Master.

if you don't get satisfaction then contact your congreeman the have 'peope' whose job it is to make voters happy.
the pkg never arrived. If it had the wrong address, it should have said "delivered"
you are assuming it was a valid address or maybe whomever does live there was smart enough to refuse delivery.

Best to get the definitive facts facts straight before laying blame here.
True.
Eric. If you have a pattern of the issue and have saved some of the offending mail, you can go into the local P.O. and speak to the postmaster. It will likely not do much but it can, in some cases, make a big difference. I do know on my end that most of my mis-delivered mail was due to a substitute letter carrier so not much can be done in that case. As an alternative, you can rent a P.O. box and get your bills/important mail sent there for a small fee and those are usually reliable.

At this point I call up my doctors and ask how much I owe, a lot of their bills never make it and these are companies I have dealt with for years... It's easier to believe someone in the USPS is messing up than all of the people that send bills to me combined. Being able to get most of my bills online has been a total God-send. Since my packages make it reliably, it is something I can live with, although I do get upset sometimes about it. My parents actually have their doctors call them with the bill amounts and tell them right off the bat that they may not arrive. The silver lining is when I move away, most likely this issue will disappear. I'm really done now, no more from me :) To be honest I really shouldn't have vented here the way I did, but I figured someone might give me a suggestion that might help me.

how can one be so pissed at the USPS when they don't even know the source of the problem?
do you use PayPal and is your shipping information correct?

did the seller use the PayPal generated shipping label or did they roll their own?

the 'Receipt for Your Payment to xxxx" should show the shipping address it was sent to if they used the PP label.
Wow - I never knew there were so many devotees of the USPS! lol
I've order lots of things from ebay and paypal and never had a shipping problem. So yes, my address is fine.
As well, I stated in my first post that my immediate assumption was the seller used the wrong address. The fact that it never was delivered tells me that it is the USPS, not the wrong address on the label (otherwise it would have likely been delivered).
Still, I'll admit that it somehow could have been an address that was non-existent (however unlikely that may be).
But, I've got to say, for some of you to get so pissy over this post is downright hilarious!

for you to zip the USPS over this when you have zero facts to support it is downright hilarious
any chance you contacted the seller to see if they could shed any light on your/their problem?

So far, I've had great luck with USPS and was even feeling like defending them. Then, last week, a new i-Phone showed up in my mailbox, overnight delivery. But, it wasn't mine and should have been delivered to the same house number on a different street. I do live in a small town and know my mailman and everyone in my PO, sometimes that helps. Sometimes.
I hope your story has a happy ending soon, keep us posted.

Roth you can defend and support the USPS all you want, that is the right you have in this country and I support your comments. But... when an individual has problems a number of times throughout their life with the USPS it leaves a bad taste that nothing can get rid of. Just like one bad cop, doing something wrong, it will ruin it for every good cop.
Throughout the course of my life I have seen the good and bad of the post office, just like the DMV, and hope that within my life the bad will be eliminated.
PS. I have to go down to the PO today to pick up my pipes. They should have been delivered yesterday but the carrier decided to leave the pink slip in the mail stating she could not deliver it (signature confirmation). I was home patiently waiting for the knock that never came. BTW this has happened several times already and no complaining does nay good.

Take from it what you will. Decide whether one man was just stating his opinion, which he is entitled to give.

USPS does a great job. I mail thousands every week. But if you want $4.00 shipping costs, there is no tracking. That's why when I ship something I sell, I do FedEx or UPS, Signature required & absorb the cost difference because I got screwed by no signature before. You get what you pay for.

Not sure, but I have always gotten a tracking number from the USPS. Check your receipt - mine always has a tracking number on it (but it's not listed as a tracking number - just a long string of numbers)
Numbersix has the USPS on his list of unsafe discussion topics.
You're right - I've violated my own list!!

My own local experience at several local USPS sites has been that the clerk asks if I want tracking (and insurance). So my guess is that it isn't automatic, if that's what you implied, six.
I've also seen some members suggest getting a box at the post office. That, however, does not guarantee correct placement of your mail. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten mail for the person whose mailbox is adjacent to mine.
It's happened so many times that I simply bring it to the long-timer clerk and he/she just rolls his/her eyes. But what if someone received my mail and just decided to toss it in the trash? I am not naive enough to think that never happens, depending on that person's mood that day.
Just sayin'

You know what, I just remembered that I usually do get insurance. Still, they always ask if I want tracking after buying insurance and I too have assumed there would be an add'l charge.
In those instances the tracking number is on the receipt anyway.
In any case, even if you don't ask for insurance, ask for a receipt and see if there's a ridiculously long number on it (tho check the tracking the next day - it's never worked for me on the same day).

Hey, that's my favourite. Don't drag me into this thread, lol. I am worried Roth will show up at my home at night with a team of postal ninjas and do me in.

If you mail Priority, that now includes the tracking and $50 insurance. I shipped a Dunhill, insured with tracking, for $200 to NY last week for $5.60(I use my own packaging).

Alright, I am done bashing my local USPS, I have a serious question for you USPS lover or haters. I tried to ship something in my own packaging online today, print out my own label and everything with tracking, shipping insurance to Texas which is only a couple states away from where I live (2 business days travel) and it only gave me the priority shipping option for $5.75, is that the cheapest tracking service available for a large envelope that weighs 3oz? I just received a First Class package from Ebay with tracking for half the cost, but I never saw that as an option. Some enlightenment if you can guys :) I'm used to only paying about $3 for this service, did they jack up the rates nearly 200% in a month?

You may have to chose "other options" or something similar, but First Class with tracking added (.75 extra I think?). I usually do these things at the Post Office, so I'm not super familiar with the online process. I do recall, that if shipping via USPS thru an Ebay auction it was slightly cheaper than going to the PO (and super convenient).

Though it's best for you not to assume, and get the actual facts before slamming the USPS instead of finding the true source of the problem, which is likely from the seller's end, or yours.
Roth, I was a bit amused by your sensitivity on this issue. After all, I have seen you on several occasions carpet bomb lawyers with blame for the ills of society, with no evidence to substantiate that position. I trust you will see the irony.

Eric, USPS does not offer non-commercial online-generated First Class shipments anymore. Meaning that as a regular Joe you can only ship Priority or Express from USPS.com . If you use eBay shipping, Endicia, Stamps.com and the other, you can still do First Class, Parcel Post and all that jive.
