I came across this pipe on eBay, selling for $900 - $1300. Apparently it's a plastic pipe with a briar insert. It appears to have been designed and possibly made in Sweden back in 2013, and hyped on ... merchandise hyping sites like "Uncrate" and "Gearmoose."

Has anyone ever heard of this? Is this a gimmick or a publicity stunt of some type?

I think the design was not done by anyone familiar with tobacco pipe design. To overprice pipes, it requires a little design entrepreneurship as with the Dunhill Cavalier and the Microphone, which are sufficiently out of line to make you think maybe they are better pipes. Dunhill attains the illusion; this pipe doesn't. Remember Brylon!

The stem fits poorly anyways. What idiot bought one of these?? The briar inlay even looks poorly finished and of low quality.

like, if I saw one of these in the wild, I’d expect it to cost $20 or less.
