Dafydd Iwan singing Yma o hyd (still here) in the National Eisteddfod this week.

Everyone knows the words. Everyone is singing. Note the age range, the passion, the tears.

Honkytonk Man, you probably never came across this in Pembrokeshire.

So I'm at a bar, and two very large women with accents are sitting across from me. I ask, "Cool accent, are you two ladies from Scotland??" One yells back, "It's WALES you idiot!" I reply, "Oh, of course. My bad! Are you two whales from Scotland?"

What a powerful moment in concert, multigenerational, and so heart felt. Truly memorable, impressive. My wife called from the other room, "What is that? It sounds wonderful."

My sister and her husband, quite well traveled, went to a choir and vocal concert in Wales and enjoyed it much. Then they went to a nearby bar, and all the singers and choirs showed up. The concert had been a rehearsal, as it were, and the real concert then began, on through the night.

Is that Welsh, per se, or Celtic? Maybe I'll play it again.

Welsh is actually a Brythonic, or British Celtic language as is Cornish.

Though I don't speak Cornish myself, it is rapidly making a comeback in these parts so in future, it may well be as commonly spoken here as Welsh is in Wales.
