LOL. Sorry, mate, but I just go boom when I hear German mispronounced. "MEER-shaum" instead of mehr-SHOWM (Meerschaum), "vuh-en" instead of 'fow-EHN' (Vauen), "shoe-ab" instead of 'shvab' (Schwab)... ?
But, puns happen in all languages. Heck, Silbermond used 'Meer' as pun too! Their song Meer sein as a pun on the maxim "mehr sein!"

Yup. Ah, I always strive to pronounce foreign words the way they'd sound in their original language. I don't anglicise them. Not just for German, but for other languages too. 'Cept French, there I won't even try.
