For the most part I had a great time in Paris. A French photographer I’d met in London asked me to look him up when I got to Paris. He took me a tour of places not known to tourists, a wonderful restaurant with murals painted by Mucha, and, of course, Pigalle, just in case I felt the need.
It was the summer of 1972, and Americans were even less popular than they are now and there was one Bistro that refused service because I was an American. So I proved their point by flipping over my table on my way out.

Speaking of cheese, which is pretty much mana from Heaven, especially if it’s stinky, I love Brie and butter on a French baguette. So simple, so good.
Did you read the news reports about the huge explosion yesterday at the cheese factory in France? At a news conference a government spokesman was quoted stating, "De Brie, it was everywhere!" 
I love French Fries.
