Thought I'd take some time to show a few of the steps involved in making a Morta Author. This one had some exceptionally nice grain, a trim ring of Ooosik, and a B&W Cumberland stem...Came in at 4.75" and 59 grams...

Sweet. The texture on the bowl is like lace, really amazing, and the stem is a real work of art. I guess I'd just pack and enjoy it, but I'd dive right in so I didn't think about holding a match to a work of art.

Very nice, thanks for taking the time to post this.
If you don't mind, how do you make the texture pattern?

Spectacular! Thanks, Zak, for sharing the steps and the wonderful outcome of your artistry.

Under 2 oz. for such a beefy, manly, piece is surprisingly lightweight, and the woven basket affect in conjunction with a dazzlingly striated stem and of course that adornment, are all together very special.

Thanks Guys! That was a fun one...and Mike was very patient- it took me forever to get some spare time to make this one...
A couple of questions on the lace effect- that's the end grain on the Morta. I try to pick blocks where the grain runs horizontally- they're hard to find- only about 5% have that grain direction- in most Morta blocks the grain is angled in one direction or another...
