Trust Forums members to get right to the bottom of a question. I like Rhodesians and bulldogs with bead lines, though occasionally a pipe comes along without a bead line that is pretty nicely shaped. (Back to the bottoms...no back to pipes.) The Dr. Grabow Royalton bulldog is a factory pipe, and an inexpensive one, but with some pretty sophisticated shaping. I fancy it is one of the stars of the Dr. Grabow line. You can turn it into a no-filter pipe with a Savenelli adaptor, if that is a consideration. It's a good intro to the bulldog shape at a sweet price. Also, look at Johs pipes. He occasionally does great bulldogs with plenty of bowl without building a heavy weight pipe. I have one I really enjoy. But there's plenty to select from, all the way up the price line. Bob Hayes, the N.C. carver, has done some striking bullldogs, with blast above the bead line and smooth below, one I especially remember in a kind of cream beige. My mistake walking away from that one, at a great price at a pipe show. Okay, back to those bikinis.
