It’s sad to admit, but this shakeup in the pipe world made me start really appreciating the blends we have. Really made me stop taking the pipe for granted. I hate it came to that, but it’s a blessing to have that realization.
Altria (Philip Morris) still manufactures cigarettes in Richmond, but it’s certainly the end of an era for the city's tobacco legacy. Even just surrounding Sutliff are the bones of Manchester tobacco manufacturing/storage/research, most recently renovated as apartments, but long removed from tobacco. Will be difficult to see it go the way of the others, but pretty wonderful it kept on through all the change around it.That’s a good post. Regardless of the last week, there’s a lot of history there.
I think it’s the last of the Richmond factories, so yeah, let’s look at the bigger picture and thank them for what they’ve been.
