Acquiring pipes is an essential component to 'modern day' pipe smoking. How you go about it is up to your own preference and pocketbook.
I just look anymore, and haven't even been doing that lately. I've got a virtual crap load of inexpensive, yet decent smoking pipes of all sorts, shapes and sizes. Most were bought on ebay for under $20.00.
My most valuable pipe was gifted by a forum member, and it suffices to satisfy a need or desire for such a critter.
I smoke mostly old Grabows, cobs, and older wood.
I'm in cruise mode re: acquisition disorders. I'm pretty much over it. Amen.
