I rented a room in a house owned by an Englishman and his wife for several years. That is where I’d learned to drink strong black tea with a dash of milk (always milk first, then tea!). Tea was usually paired with a pipe or cigar, I found this kind of tea always went well with what I was smoking.

More recently I’ve been on a quest for a strong, more malty, less bitter black tea. I’ve been trying a few different Scottish breakfast blends which seem very close to what I am looking for. Any suggestions are welcome! There’s already several teas I’ve learned about on this thread that I want to research and try.

The Scottish breakfast blend I've long used I get from spicemerchant.com Don't know that it would meet your criteria or not.

economically reasonable, good on almost every occasion, Yorkshire Red,and Indian domestic tea blends ,Brook Bond Red Cup,Tata Teas, these are bold and to be enjoyed with milk&sugar

Thank you. This would help although they are much more costly than Harney. The same leaf (Namring Upper) was about 30$ for 2 oz in Harney, but 37$ for 40 g here. Having said that these guys have a much more selection than Harneys and definitely worth it.

I like Harney. I have a tin of the Red Robe Oolong. Its the only Oolong lve tried. Its pretty good.
