Gents,

What tobacco might pair best with a hot cup of Sleepy Time Tea in the evening?

Or, what is your nighttime go to drink and a pipe combo?

As the nights get colder, it just got me thinking ....

While I don't pair my pipes with tea, some actually do and they'll chime in. Sleepytime is mostly chamomile, right?
That makes me think of perhaps something light like a Virginia.

I dont drink that tea but tea and tobacco are a great combo. Indrink black tea eith milk and sugar. Its great with a vaper. Lat blends go well too. My burley blends are usually with coffee.

I think fldrd is right. It would probably go well with a light tobacco. Something heavy would make it taste like water.

I dont smoke at night. It tends to lead to coughing. It probably dries me out.m too much before bed.

I drink a lot of tea, almost exclusively loose leaf Chinese black teas, and it's probably the perfect drink pairing with just about any tobacco blend. If you want a specific recommendation, Lapsang Souchong and Keemun are exceptionally good smoking companions due to their almost tobacco-like smokiness.

Not sure what I would smoke with an herbal chamomile like Sleepytime, but I'd imagine that most tobaccos would pair pretty nicely with it!

Sweet tea pairs with everything. I drink no less than half a gallon a day, year round.

I was just smoking Sutliff 507-C Navy Flake with a cup of black tea with a touch of light cream alongside.
I drink strong columbian coffee in the morning and black tea in the late afternoon and evening, both with light cream. In the evening you'll want just enough nicotine to get through the night without keeping you awake. I would second those who said a Virginia or Virginia blend but perhaps a 1/2 bowl rather than full bowl. You could also try a light aromatic. Sleepy time if I recall correctly has a lemon honey flavor so maybe some Capstan Blue to match or to contrast the tea flavor a Lane 1-Q or Autumn Evening for sweeter flavor. If you want a stronger latakia flavor Country Squire PSBlend is black cavendish and latakia and really very tasty but not overpowering at all - very relaxing. Just 2 cents. YMMV.

A good thread a couple of years ago or so got me into wintertime hot tea more than usual courtesy of @hoosierpipeguy and @scloyd and their affinity for some good tea. Not much help here, I rarely have a pipe after dark so coffee, if anything, in the morning and iced tea at other times in general during the day. Hot tea is usually accompanied with a sweet snack, not tobacco.

I've found indigopunch from harney and sons mixes well with latakia mixtures.

I like their queen Catherine one with others.

My favorite is their orange passionfruit but it doesn't pair well.

I've always found Sleepy Time to have a bit of an anise flavor as well as the chamomile, so perhaps a cube cut Burley?

I think tea compliments any tobacco. I enjoy my tea with a straight Virginia of some kind. I prefer some version of Earl Gray in the evening.

Capstan Blue or Nightcap for me with Lemon Ginger or Orange Pekoe depending on the caffeine mood.

Probably something with ansie, but not overly so, maybe Dark Strong. Unless my nose is broken, Kopp 1919 has a lite ansie topping. Been meaning to try Sleepytime with it, or Tension Tamer.

With virginia tobacco, I like fruity teas. With latakia blends, black tea.

Any Va-based blend with tea, any dark fired Kentucky with coffee, as a rule of thumb.

I usually pair my night pipe with beer or wine, but when I choose to brew a tea, I like a Ginger and Rhubarb blend made by Teapigs. I also like their mint-liquorice with stouter blends (it has a very potent flavour that can overshadow milder blends).

Anyway, my favourite drink while smoking is by far yerba mate. But only until 4 pm because it has lots of caffeine.
